September Ipsy bag

This is just a quick preview of what I recieved in my September Ipsy Bag! I got it about a week ago but I've only been able to test a few of the items so far. I will post a full on review later this week for you all. My favorite of the bag so far is the Cailyn Tinted Lip Balm in Big Apple! It is such a pretty color.

More later on!

July Maven box

This has been a long time coming. Since last I wrote, my life has changed dramatically. Instead of going off to George Mason University, I moved back home. My mom revealed to me that she has stage three thyroid cancer. I quickly decided that spending time with my mom and helping to care for her was more important than going to the school of my dreams. I've moved back home now and settled in and have just gotten internet. (My parents didn't see the internet as important-- how horrible!)

I can now give my first beauty box review for the month of July.

The box is from Julep, and each member is called a Maven. It's a $20/month subscription, but in each box you can get either two bottles of nail polish and a full-sized beauty product, three bottles of nail polish, or two full sized beauty products. You fill out a beauty survey to determine your style profile and then they'll recommend a beauty box type for you. My first month I received Classic With A Twist.

In this month's box, I received a pedi cream, a red nail polish titled Claudette and a nude color titled Helen. There is a bonus thrown in each month, and July's bonus was a glycolic hand scrub with apricot seeds in it.

When you open the box, there's a few pieces of paper, welcoming you to the subscription program, and one describing your fashion style. Beneath that and on top of a bed of paper crinkles are your beauty products. The nail polish comes in this cute little bag and wrapped in bubble wrap. They really do make it as shipment safe as possible.

The nail polish, at first just looks like your run of the mill nail polish, but it has great staying power, even for a barista who uses her hands all day long. It lasted without chipping for five days. It goes on quite smoothly and dries in about five minutes. It has a nice shine even without a top coat.

The Mint Condition Pedi Cream is so smooth, and minty, it feels so refreshing on your feet after a long day at work. It's a cucumber-mint cream that helps to smooth the rough edges and moisturize quickly. The pedi cream contains shea butter, coconut oil, essential oils, vitamin E and a fast-acting alpha hydroxy acid (AHA) . The only issue with the cream is that there are AHAs in it that can increase your risk of sunburn, so it is recommended that you apply sunscreen and limit the sun exposure for a week afterwards. It's perfectly fine to use on the softer skin on the top of your feet as well as the coarser skin of your heels and underside of your feet.

I am all in all very pleased with the Julep Maven box, and will continue to subscribe to it, as it is one of the best ways to get new full-sized beauty products, especially if you're not sure that you want to purchase a new item. Given the opportunity, I would purchase the pedi cream, as it's a great product and really does do as described on the packaging.

If you're interested in signing up, use this link. It'll help me with the rewards program, and you'll get a code to get your first box free!

Anywho, that's it for now. I'll try to get the August box up soon. Leave any comments you have and I'll get to them as soon as I can. I'll be more reliable now that I have internet again.

So here goes my introduction!

I'm not as good at descriptions and talking things out as Caitie is. I'm a college student at UNCC, GO NINERS!!! Yes we are going to two different schools. But we went to high school together down in South Florida.

Just like Caitie I have over 200 books, and yes I also read all of them! I have more makeup than I know what to do with. Though I really do love to do my makeup as often as I'm able to. I did just sign up for Ipsy so you will be guaranteed a post from me once every month! I got mine this month already so I'll do a sort of half post about it some time soon. :)

I work part time at a bookstore on my school campus, which I absolutely love!

I'm a Civil Engineering student so I do get busy with class work. If I forget to post or don't post enough information about something for you, please comment with any questions you have!!

Just like Caitie it's late here, and I have to be up in the morning, but for me it's for class instead of work. I'm taking a Solids class, which I could tell you about if you want. :P

Have an amazing night everyone!!
Our first real blog post. Well, mine anyway. Since there are two people contributing to this blog, you'll get two introductions.

I'm Caitlain, but most of my friends call me Caitie. I'm 23 years old, and hail from Fairfax, Virginia. I love make up, love to sing, and I own over 200 books. Yes, I've read them all.

Why would I be interested in a natural beauty product? I'm 23, a college student, and I hold a full-time job. I shouldn't have the time to delve into natural and homemade beauty products. Sensitive skin. I've got it, yes I do. I'm allergic to aloe (believe me, it's true!) I'm sensitive to a ton of scents, and I can't use any kind of shaving cream.

I love Urban Decay make up, and I will post my collection (insert Golem voice and clutching hands here) to be drooled over soon. I think my eyes are my best feature, and my lips.

You'll see us writing about many things, and making one item each month (pictures included) to blog about here. Kristen (my blogging partner) and I will be living 6.5 hours apart --give or take traffic. I say will be, because I'm currently in South Florida, but will be moving to Virginia for school, GO MASON! We'll meet approximately once a month to make one product at home (or rather, apartment) and test out. We'll detail how to make the item, what you'll need. Then we'll take it home (dorm, for me) and give it a good use. We'll tell you everything; from how it feels on your skin, to the scents, if the aroma lingers afterwards. We won't leave anything out --at least we'll try not to.

We are both college students after all!

Well, it's late here and I've got to be up for work at 5 am (wayyyyy too early to be serving people coffee. Yayy Starbucks.)

You can expect Kristen's intro soon.

Nighty night!
